Kundalini and Creativity

What is Kundalini?

  • the creative potential of the human being

  • the whole energy of the cosmos

  • the vital force of all living things

  • the energy of consciousness

  • the energy of the soul

Within each of us there is a vast reservoir of untapped or dormant kundalini stored near the navel point.

Raising the kundalini has to do with spiritual elevation, a change of consciousness and a transformation in character. Engaging with this energy is how we become sensitive, intuitive, radiant, and strong. Kundalini is translated as: “the curl in the lock of the hair of the beloved”.  As all rivers end up in the same ocean, all yoga ends up by raising the kundalini in the human. First we seek awareness in the moment, and then we accept all of the creation around us and all the creation within us.

As I sail the uncharted waters of my level 3 kundalini yoga journey I will be sharing with you bits of my experience. Over about 3 years we are asked to accomplish a few things. Below are some but not all of the requirements.

  1. A 1,000 day, 31 minute meditation of our own choosing.

  2. At least 18 days of 6 hour group meditation practices.

  3. Develop a stronger connection with your “Isht” or a higher vibration, you can lean on.

  4. Create and implement a seva project to share with others in your community.

One of the things I would like to share with you this month is my Seva project.  I am currently working on developing a program that blends dancing kriyas, celestial communication meditations and artistic reflections.  Lately, I have been feeling like a detective searching for references and clues to help provide clarity for anyone who might want to share these practices with others in their communities. I love that my project amplifies all the things I cherish and hold dear: yoga, dance, art, spirituality, community and deep reflections.  I can’t wait to have this polished and ready to share! As I continue to work on it I will be testing out the curriculum before it gets penned in!

Would you like to try some of these modalities? Come see me at the Bare Foot and Free Festival at Proud Lake Recreation Area in Commerce, MI!

Saturday August 8th at 2:45  “Celestial Communication” in the Goddess Tent.

In this workshop you will learn what Celestial Communication is.  Then we will learn and practice 3-5 together. These are mantra based meditations with moving mudras.

Sunday August 9th at 10:00 “Kundalini and Creativity” in the Creation Station Classroom!

In this workshop we will begin with a Kriya that includes dance, then practice a celestial communication meditation and end with creative reflections.  Be prepared to move and create! All art materials will be provided!

We are currently entering “late summer”.
We are currently entering “late summer”.

Now let’s take a quick look at the numerological forecast and the rhythms of the season!

August numerology notes:

This August is not a good time for new investments! We will be dealing with “smoke and mirrors”, power struggles, ancestral grief and emotional intensity.  The good news is that September will be providing us with opportunities to start something new and expand, move forward, and break through energetic blocks.

Our goals this month are to:

 -stay elevated with mantra

-practice breathwork to create a sense of calm and balance

-sweat to release toxins and negative emotions

-end things that are no longer working for us

-slow down to move with intuition and grace through heated situations

-use water to support yourself, (lakes, rivers, oceans, pools or bath tubs all count!)

We are currently entering “late summer”.  There is still work to be done!  It is important to be gentle, move with intuition and compassion. Our celebratory dance is yet to be over.  Harvest time is beginning.  Use this last burst of energy to complete what you started earlier this year.  Get outside! Savor the sunlight. Open your heart and connect with the goodness all around you.

The elephant is animal medicine for this season.  They are the keepers of wisdom and memory.  They have huge, passionate, fiery hearts and nurture and protect those they love.  Elephants are also lessons in gentle communication and deep commitment.  Call on Elephant energy when you need to be comfortable in your own skin and strong despite what others may see as your deficiencies.

The witch is a seasonal symbol of late summer.  She is a wisewoman archetype. She is a seeker of knowledge who deeply explores the natural world. She’s not wholly tamed, and so she scares those who bow to social norms instead of natural laws. Her gifts are rooted in knowledge of the seasonal cycles and her ability to heal herself and others. Her challenges include feeling alone and persecuted.

Another seasonal symbol of late summer is the traveler. The traveler arrives with new ideas, bringing fresh eyes to old situations. He admires things the locals take for granted and notices issues that have become common or ignored. The message here is to get out and truly see the world. Create space for new seeds to grow. The gifts the traveler brings are new ideas, innovations, diversity and cultural understandings. The challenges the traveler must overcome include fear and prejudices.

Reflection questions:

What sustains you?

How can you deepen your connection with the natural world all around you?

What do you notice that others tend to overlook?

If you could do anything, what would your heart lead you to do?

What can you give back to your community?
