A Labyrinth is not a maze.

When I was little I loved the 1986 film Labyrinth, a fantasy movie created by the imaginative Jim Henson and Brian Froud. We rented the VHS so many times, it’s surprising why we never just bought it. As an adult, I have one bone to pick with it. The movie is not a labyrinth, it’s a maze! Mazes have dead ends, and create confusion, frustration, fear and panic. You begin to wonder, “Will I ever make my way out of this place?” A labyrinth is an ancient, 4,000 year old tool that helps bring clarity, comfort, and reduces stress. Unlike a maze, the path is clear. It winds around and sometimes you feel, “Haven’t I been here before? Am I moving backwards to proceed forwards?” The end of the labyrinth is the center. By reaching the center you feel a sense of connection and emerge from the beginning with a plan for action.
February can feel a bit like that too. We can feel we are moving closer to spring (the center) but somehow keep circling back towards winter.
Late winter requires plenty of rest and time to clean, clear, purify, detox, take inventory, and prepare for spring. Keep a candle of hope lit and plant your intentions for brighter days to come. Honor the gifts of the season: hope, choice, and creative potency. Be aware of the challenges: lack of patience, thoughtless actions, and feeling stuck. Have a cup of dandelion tea to help stagnation while meditating on mica to assist in amplifying your energy.
February in numerology is a 2, when in the positive it’s about harmony, cooperation, balance, protection. We must tap our creative consciousness in order to move past the boundaries of our self-limiting thoughts! Now is the time to find your Isht. Your Isht is that which will never fail you. It is that which helps pull you out of your darkness and into the light. As humans we “long to belong”. How do we satisfy this longing? Connection: connection to our soul, connection to a higher frequency, and connection to others. If you haven’t found your people yet, begin by joining groups that share a similar interest or ethic stance. We need each other to thrive.
Some questions to ask yourself:
-Where am I going? What do I want?
-What does my heart have to say about it? Am I reaching for a higher purpose?
-Let your hands dream: If they could do anything, what would they do?
-What makes me feel alive, awake, and moving in the right direction?
