Is this a joyful time of year for you?

Sometimes, “The most wonderful time of the year” overwhelms me with fear, negativity, and disappointment. My soul misses the warm summer sunshine and forgets the promise of the return to light at the winter solstice. I get bombarded by holiday events/ commitments when my spirit longs for quiet reflection and peaceful/ restorative nights. I despise the commercialization of this time, “buy, buy, buy” and “consume, consume, consume”. While our planet screams, “refuse, reduce, reuse and recycle”. How can we acknowledge and celebrate each other without feeling depleted? How can we uplift one another this season without harming our Earth Mother?
Please share your creative ideas with our community! I love making something small and sentimental or buying something from a local artist/ small business. What are some of your go-to ideas?

Let’s unpack the yogic numerology around this month. Our Karma number is the reduced sum of the month so December (12) is 1 + 2 = 3. The number 3 is associated with your 3rd body AKA the Positive Mind and the 3rd chakra. Elements of the third chakra include fire/ the sun, yellow, power, action, choice, and vitality.
When the positive mind is balanced we can see the positive in any situation. We can rise to the challenges of the world around us. Here anything is possible and nothing can stand in the way of our destiny. When the positive mind is unbalanced we may be negative towards ourselves reinforcing our negative mind. We might also become hesitant, uncertain and easily manipulated. There can also be a fear of using and losing your inner power.
When the 3rd chakra is balanced we are aware of how our actions affect others and seek what’s best for the whole. We possess great leadership abilities, are in control of our own lives, trust in the process and are useful members of society. When the 3rd chakra is unbalanced we are narrow-minded, refusing to consider alternative perspectives, and are also singularly focused on what’s best for “me”. We seek external validation and are quick to anger or guilt.
So, how do we balance this “3” energy?
Abdominal exercises
Being kind to our digestive system
Practicing breath of fire
Boosting your self-esteem
Using positive affirmations.
I find that I am more successful working on self-improvement within a group! If you feel the same join us for a drop in class this month! Current offerings listed below, including a new series beginning in January!
